Is Kowalski Emotional?

As we all know, Kowalski, Skipper’s lieutenant, is the smartest of the penguins, who uses logic to solve problems. This can make him seem cold, detached and aloof. But he’s very affectionate when it comes to his friends. Gradually, we come to know that he’s very emotional but does not show it.

What is black, white and red all over? A blushing penguin! In Season 1 Episode 'Gone in a flash', Private made them a Love smoothie. As Skipper asked him, Kowalski replied, “It’s a chemical reaction in the brain in using bliss, highly addictive!”. Later, he secretly started drinking the Love smoothie, while staring at the picture of Doris, the dolphin.

Another hint points it out, when Kowalski suggested that he enlist Doris to use her echolocation skills to track the missing lemur. However, Skipper replies, "Forget it, Kowalski! She's useless on land. Besides, Doris only likes you. She doesn't 'Like you' like you!"

When Rico was about to explode in Season 1 Episode, ‘All choked up’, he nearly burst into tears with the other penguins, saying, ”I also love you, in the same way, expressed previously… dude!”, and “That’s poetry, Skipper!”.

Later in the series, he is in love with Officer X’s sport utility vehicle.
